A Delightful Dalliance in the Dales with the ladies of the East Witton WI – 05 June 2018

It was wonderful for us to return to Wensleydale and put on a concert for the lovely ladies of the East Witton WI. There’s always such a warm welcome in the northern Dales and the Parish Room on the green in East Witton provides a delightful backdrop for a bit of barbershop singing. Renditions of some new songs for the 1940’s Day later in June rang out, along with a few fun classics like the Beatle’s When I’m 64 and the Drifter’s Under The Boardwalk.

Having travelled the winding bi-ways along the beautiful River Ure on route, it was only fitting too that we commenced our programme with John Denver’s Country Roads!  We had a lively interlude from our very own Misspent Ukes and special thanks to the Whimsical Mr Harold Blackburn for his splendid and humorous rendition of the tongue-twisting monologue ‘Nell’. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening, guests and chorus alike, and we are ever grateful for the hearty supper laid on by our hosts. A very pleasant summer’s evening indeed!!
