AN INTRODUCTION TO BARBERSHOP SINGING

posted Sep 20, 2017, 2:29 PM by Hh Admin
On Wednesday 1st November from 7.30 to 9.30pm Harrogate Harmony Barbershop Chorus will be running an open evening to introduce men of all ages to the art of close harmony, barbershop singing.

The evening, which is free of charge, will comprise a brief introduction, a voice warm up session and a demonstration by the chorus. Guests will be invited to select which voice part best suits them and then all will break off into sections ( tenor, lead, baritone or bass) to learn a classic barbershop song, Hello Mary Lou.

After a break for tea, coffee and biscuits we will all join together as a chorus to sing the song together in four part harmony.

If time permits we will also try a second barbershop classic, Under the Boardwalk.

Videos of both songs are available on our website www.harrogateharmony.org.uk

For more information or to reserve your place please call Harold Blackburn on 07949 267344 or by email to chairman@harrogateharmony.co.uk

The evening will be held at St Pauls Church rooms, Victoria Avenue HG1 1EL, opposite Harrogate library. Free on street parking is available.

All will be assured of a warm and friendly evening and will come away with a relaxed and enjoyable taste of close harmony singing.
