Chorus Returns at Allhallowgate church hall in Ripon for a ‘Music Hall’ evening

Friday 16th February saw the Chorus back at Allhallowgate church hall in Ripon for a ‘Music Hall’ evening, which seems to be ever growing in popularity. Included with our songs from across the 20th Century, were music hall classics such as Al Jolson’s ‘There's a Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder’ and Fats Waller’s ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’.

Adding variety to the evening, our very own ‘Misspent Uke’s’ rang out some wonderful medleys to get the audience veritably chirping along and we had a rendition of the odd monologue or two from the whimsical Mr Harold Blackburn. The HH Quartet performed ‘Birth of the Blues’ and, to really top the evening off, we had the great pleasure of performing with one of West London’s premier jazz pianists – Mr Errol Hui.

The evening raised funds of over £650 for church repairs and the ‘Noreen’s Kids’ charity for sick children in Romania. During the interval, the organising committee provided wonderful home-made cakes and light refreshments, very much enjoyed by both the ‘full house’ audience and the Chorus! All in all, a splendid evening of musical fun and entertainment!

Thanks go to the church members who worked so hard to put on such a good show.
