On April 26th the Chorus performed a concert at the St Robert's Club in aid of the Take Heart charity. The concert was also in memory of our friend and fellow chorus Member, Dennis Weekes, who passed away last year. His Widow, Nan Weekes, and the treasurer of Take Heart, Alec McLean, visited the chorus during our rehearsal on Wednesday May 17th.

Alec McLean gave a short speech describing the origins of the charity in 1989 when six heart patients decided to get together to improve the aftercare and the lot of patents, relatives and staff, and since then the charity has raised over £4 million and provided equipment and accommodation at the Leeds General Infirmary where relatives are now able to stay close to their loved ones during surgery and aftercare.

The chorus are photographed here with Nan Weekes, Alec McLean and Mike Tasker, Musical Director of the Chorus is presenting a cheque for £600 being the money raised at the concert for the benefit of the charity. .
