Hi Gareth,

Many thanks to Harrogate Harmony for entertaining us at our annual lunch last Monday.  I thought you all looked splendid in your waistcoats and bow ties and sang really well.  Please pass on my thanks to all who attended.

Many thanks

Hi Gareth,

Thank you so much for organising your group yesterday. It was lovely to see you all – it’s a delight to have you. I didn’t know the beer festival preparations were in full swing so you were thrown in the deep end with not so great rehearsal conditions!!

Hi Harold,

Thank you so much for entertaining us, we had a fantastic time. I have had some amazing feedback.  I’ve been told it was the best event yet! Everybody was really quite taken by you all.  What a charismatic bunch you are!! I wondered if you did Christmas Shows?

We really enjoyed it Harold.  Many thanks for all your efforts.

21st September 2016, Dennis Weekes' funeral

Email received from Dennis' wife. Nan.

Thank you so very much for the wonderful tribute that you all gave to Dennis yesterday. He would be so proud of you all, everyone I spoke to said how fitting and how beautifully you all sang. Singing and in particular Barbershop had been such a very big and enjoyable part of Den's life and friendship through harmony is very special indeed. It was a real  comfort for me to see how many of you were able to be there to sing and a special thank you to Paul who had come on 3 buses to be there to sing and had to dash off to catch them back without even a cup of tea, I really appreciated it as did all the family. Our morning funeral service was a time of real sadness but for the afternoon service I just wanted to share some of the joy that Den's life had brought to so many, and to send everyone home remembering his happy smile.

Many, many thanks to you all for being an important part of Den's life.

Yours in a Harmony

Love Nan x

16th September 2016

Next week we say farewell to a founder member of Harrogate Harmony and I thought it right and proper that this important engagement be brought onto our list for record in the annals of the Chorus. I’ve only known Dennis for a short time and found him to be the most pleasant of chaps, always there to help and with a clear and dear love of his singing. Only a few weeks ago he was exchanging banter with me from Cyprus, an island that I know well from my army days. In his correspondence, it was clear to see he was extremely keen to return for our ‘Showcase’ concert, arriving back the day before and very much with a ‘don’t start without me’ attitude! After the concert, he mentioned that it was with great pride he sung with the chorus on that night, which was extremely uplifting for me and great testament to how well the chorus performed. How all of you must feel, having known Dennis for eons longer than I had the pleasure of knowing him, goes without saying really. You must be so saddened at the loss of such a dear friend and my thoughts are with you as, indeed, all of our thoughts are with Dennis’s wife, Nan, and his family. I’m sure all that can make it will be there in attendance at his funeral and the singing will come from the heart. As one of you mentioned at rehearsal, it’s what Dennis would have wanted. I’m sure the Harrogate Harmony send-off will be a most fitting farewell to a stalwart of the Chorus. His wonderful tones will be sadly missed.
